Blood Letting Activity - 07.24.09

CEDARHALL ACADEMY INC. together with the PHILIPPINE NATIONAL RED CROSS will conduct a blood drive on July 24, 2009.

Regarding this, our TEAM is requested to participate and support the program by donating blood and GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

WHY SHOULD WE DONATE BLOOD?
The need for blood is great. On any given day, more than two thousand of blood units are transfused to patients in our country. Some may need blood during surgery. Others depend on it after an accident or because they have a disease that requires blood components. The Philippine National Red Cross approximately supplies one-fourth of the country’s national blood requirements

IS IT SAFE TO GIVE BLOOD?
Yes, the Red Cross ensures that donating blood is a safe opportunity to give the GIFT OF LIFE. Each needle used in the procedure is sterile and is disposed of after a single use. It is important that all blood donors are in good health, are well rested and have eaten prior to donating.

WHO CAN DONATE BLOOD?
You can donate blood if you:
·  Are in good health
·  Between 16 to 65  years old (16 and 17 years old need parents consent)
·  Weigh at least 110 pounds
·  With a blood pressure between: Systolic: 90-160 mm Hg; Diastolic: 60-100 mm Hg
·  Pass the physical and health history assessments

PNRC Blood Service Facilities carefully screen potential donors. The screening guidelines are necessary to ensure that blood donation is safe for you and that it's safe for the person who receives your blood.

CAN A PERSON WHO HAS TATTOO DONATE BLOOD?
YES, provided that the tattooing procedure was done in a sterile manner, he/she may donate 1 year after the procedure. This is the same with ear piercing, acupuncture and other procedures involving needles or tooth extraction.

WHERE CAN I DONATE BLOOD?
The PNRC team will be at Cedarhall Academy’s Building on July 24, 2009 for the blood letting ( blood drive) activity. Interested donors, please visit the school on July 24, 2009.
